Grande Box in Pippy Sycamore (#4835)

Sycamore tends, in my experience, to be a rather bland timber, although what you have here is the exception that proves the rule. This block of wood appealed to me because of the  pippy areas, the quilting effect on the central part of the lid and the dark barky intrusion which contrasts so dramatically with the rest of the box.

This is a very ‘busy’ box internally; a useful little lift out drawer in the top and another much deeper drawer which lifts out to enable access to the ‘secret’ drawer in the base. This box is a good example of how the colours/figuring in the wood dictating how I cut it.

If you like beautiful pale timber this may well be the box for you.

Size: 8.5″ x 4″ x 4″.

There is no charge for an inscription on the base.
